Warrants, 1845-1882.

The series consists of copies of warrants issued by the Comptroller's Office from 1845 to 1882. The warrant process originated with a claim for a specific amount made by an individual, agency, or company upon the State. The claim, made in the form of a voucher, had to be examined and audited by the Comptroller. If the claim was allowed, the Comptroller's warrant passed from the Comptroller's Office to the State Treasurer.
